good catch man. i might pick up a ninja 650 if it's that much faster than the zx-6. should be way cheaper and better on insurance

and it's only .2 slower than a gsx-r750!!!!

I thought the 650R vs the 750 looked a little off as well

It makes sense because remember my bike tops out in the low 130 range..... whereas the ZX runs what, prolly 160....but at most highway speeds Kwak hit the gearing spot on for the power and torque characteristics of the little twinja.

My bike is wonderful (and I've owned and ridden some of everything out there) but of course it was built to a price point. Go ride a Duck and you feel something more substantial, but not necessarily any better in the City, where I ride the most. And with the 650R's goofy bars I can stand on the pegs and hooligan about more than most sporty bikes with clip ons.

I'm about to go sample that again

But before you do, beware that the 650R is highly responsive to the slightest of clutch adjustments at the bar. I mean like half a turn can have a MARKED IMPACT on how the thing pulls, many people don't know this. I fiddle with my setting every couple of weeks depending on how much I ride and how hard.

And the idle speed has to be set properly, 1,300 or so warm otherwise it will feel doggy daddy.

Actually, nevermind on those numbers. They prob are pretty close. If the 650r is in first gear, and the zx6r in 6th gear then yeah, it's right

So, you're saying that adjusting a clutch that is not slipping will make a huge difference in how the bike pulls?

He could let a little clutch fluid out . Could be good for a 10th sec cause of weight .

Was that chart suppose to be 0 to 60 times ? I'm pretty sure my 750 can hit 60 quicker than 3.38 sec.

Wow, apparently an 06 650R can beat a 03 V-Max from 0-60 as well. I'm gonna have to call that B.S as well.

Default Haterism gets you nowhere.

Just showing your ignorance and haterism. We all know a 600 will romp the 650 ON TOP END OVER 100 MPH, the point is, and unless you can dispute the TOP GEAR figures by Motorcyclist, the 650 is one quick machine.

Keep on hatin' though... if it makes you feel any better because you sound stupid.

No, the chart is top gear roll on 60-80 mph, where most of your riding is done.

Well at least most of mine. I've gone 160 on a bike on a deserted stretch of highway but really what's the point?

Absolutely, when you are dealing with a bike that is kinda horsepower-challenged in the first place

But of course it only works on a cable operated clutch....

Default It's not 0-60 bro....

It's not 0-60 its 60-80 top gear and as I've said, it all makes perfect sense because the top gear on a 650R is only going to take you to about 135, so because of the perfectly-selected gearing it is very responsive to throttle tip-in on the highway and most speeds where most of us ride.

Is the bike overpriced for what it is, perhaps.

But then again there's nothing else like it and I got mine for $4,200 with 5K miles from a 62 year old man who retired and didn't need a highway machine anymore. So I'm all set.

My other considerations?
VFR Honda (much more bike, much more heavy and ponderous in town -- would not go back to a VFR 500 had one of those years ago, too small and old)

Honda 919 (similar to Interceptor, a totally different class of bike).

Various used Ducatis (much more maintenance, no wind protection unless Multistrada).

SV 650 (sold them, wanted to try something different, still a great bike as I have repeatedly said).

I'm not an idiot, you are the idiot, as I repeatedly said the damn top gear roll on at 60-80 is going to favor a middleweight twin because they top out at 130 you dumb ass. I've owned or ridden BMW K1300, Gixxer 1,000 Ducati race bikes, FZ750, and R1, and an R6 so yah I kinda know a bit about bikes.

I don't know what part of that you can't comprehend.

Whatever the case if you think in most environments that you can go faster than me then get out your goddamn title, or welcome to a crash soon.
