GS 500F idle problem

225 Views 7 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Bweighmaster
Hi, I just bought a 2007 GS500 F, And I'm having an issue when idling. When it's running it seems to make a sort of tick sound in the front end of the engine and loses some rpm, as though it's missing. At higher rpm it doesn't seem to do it. I'll include a video, sorry about the length I can't seem to find out how to cut it shorter. Hopefully you can hear the noise, and see the rpm drop on the tachometer.
Anything you all can do to help would be appreciated!

So far I've replaced the spark plugs, as I thought that might be the issue as well.
The sound I'm noticing, besides the ticking (which I've read is normal for this bike) is hard to describe, almost like a kind of light clunk once in a while. It only seems to do this under 4000, but over that I don't notice it.
What is your idle speed / rpm ? Should be 11 - 1200 rpm ...
The idle is in that range, but the revs drop when the engine makes the sound.
Not yet, I actually just picked the bike up a week ago. I was considering doing that soon though. Do you think that's the likely cause of the issue? The bike only has 3500km on it.
