GSXR 1000 K8 Surging when light throttle

Hi there, I have a brand new GSXR K8 which has only done 500 k's so far. Since new, I have noticed a very slight surging under almost no throttle. I notice this in 4th, 5th and 6th gears, when doing around 90 - 100kph. As soon as you turn the throttle a bit, it runs smooth.

It has Yoshi Tri oval slipons and with Cat still in place.

I mentioned it to the salesman, and he thought it may be because it is new. I have had 2 new GSXR's before, and am not sure, but don't remember experiencing this.

Interested in any comments, or if anyone has experienced this when their bikes were new ?

It is brand new, so I would have thought they come tuned. It idles perfectly, nice and smooth, and is definitely smooth to ride in lower gears. I only notice this in 4th, 5th and 6th. It will go in for first service next week, so I will mention it again to the shop then.

It helps to have you guys comments, as when the shop says it is normal, I can confirm other bikes are not doing it.

I have wondered if the slipons have changed the fuel flow, and with no other changes, the cat thinks it should still have the original pipes. But I don't know if that is an adjustment that could cause this, can be made, and if it has ever been required. The setup would be similar to the K7SE which came out with the Yoshi slipons.

Thanks guys. Good suggestion about throttle sensor. I also suspect a dud plug or faulty injector. The bike goes in for first service next week, and I will advise that I want this fixed under warranty before that service is finished.

Fyi, in NZ our Demerits go:
Exceeding 120km/hr = 35
Exceeding 140km/hr = 50

You keep the Demerits for 2 years from the date of the infringement.
And when you have 100 Demerits, it is 3 months loss of license. So, on 85, (result of 2 infringements) I have to behave, and learn the error in my ways, for 2 years.

Just to update on progress. While in the service, the mechanic adjusted the mixture at low throttle positions to make it richer. They think it is running lean because of the slip-ons. There was a small improvement.

They are going to arrange a dyno session with a local specialist, and do the adjustments on there, rather than guessing. I will post an update if any progress.

Further update. I tried putting the original mufflers back on, and to my surprise the bike still has the surging problem. So it is not being caused by the Yoshi slipons. I doubt that a dyno session is required, as everything is standard. Clearly there is something wrong, so I will be going back to the dealer tomorrow.

I have fitted an Arrow Mid-Pipe, which gets rid of the Cat, and had the bike tuned on the dyno for mid range, with particular focus on getting rid of the flat spot. The surging is almost non-existent now. The improvement in power is soo good too.

my RPMs surge a lil bit when at idle. but the dealsaid thats cause i removed my cat and have an aftermarket exhaust, but i doubt that. but alot of people say if you dyno or power command it, it fixs it
