i'm bored, so i started a thread.
i need a new helmet, lets here some opinions. i'm leaning towards either arai, or kbc (i'm a big fan of the matte finish)
ive only owned a HJC, so i'm not sure whats better. feel free to post up your thoughts...

I'm a big Icon helmet fan, I've owned 2 and liek them over the Shoei's and Arai's I've owned. I think JR just came out with a carbon helmet that's pretty badass

I like my Scorpion EXO700s alot. Its a tad heavier than my Shoei RF1000s, but well worth it. The shield is almost impossible to fog and it has adequate ventilation. The price is right as well. STG.com has them CHEAP!!!!. I already own 2 EXOs and 2 RF1000s or Id buy one at these prices.

Shoei all the way!!! Protected my dome in a pretty good crash, so I'm kinda partial. Love the fit. All I've ever owned 4 total.

Try a Scorpion on. I have the Scorpion exo-700..with a shiny finish. Mostly white, the discontinued Geronimo paint theme. It might be a step backwards, but yesterday I purchased the exo-400 Sting helmet, matte finish, mostly black with some silver. $135. And it's real comfortable. I think all I needed to do was purchase another set of pads for my 700, but I was bored with the helmet anyway. The 400 is a darker helmet, goes nice with the black leather Scorpion Stinger jacket and a black gsx-r600.

scorpion exo-700 all the way ( crackhead model ) looking into the tear offs...and i think there's only two companies that make them for the helmets, so i might check into arai now but, the scorpion best bang for buck....

Arais are nice, but they come in different "shapes" and unless you have the opportunity to try them on I wouldn't buy one. HJC has that carbon fiber helmet out, that's pretty sick. Shoeis are top notch as well.

But definitely try a few on and see which feels the best on your head.

Anthony,
Good move as Grandevil pointed out on the Arai's, they do have several different fits, so if you want to spend that loot, you gotta try 'em. Check out Fun Wheels or Daves to try 'em on.. I'm getting a new Arai, as I tried them on at the NYC show. I'm not yet willing to sacrifice my melon going with a less battle-proven helmet other then Arai..
Although if you don't want to spend that much, FW and Daves both have Icon as well.

I have owned three shoei's and 1 hjc. I love the shoei's i guess because they fit my dome the best.

So I'm a Shoei fan. but you have to go with what fits you best.
Yeah, I don't think Arai makes a 5XL...

hahahaha, bigger heads make for bigger brains though..

Race with Shoei, ride with KBC. I loved the Racer 1 but they discontinued it so now I run the VR2. Running a RF1000 on the track and it's super comfy and the ventilation is fantastic.

All I've tried thus far is Icon and Scorpion. Icon is crap. Heavy, moderately comfortable, corny designs (bought the Icon Mainframe) poor vent. and instantly fogs. Scorpion on the other hand is a huge step up. A bit lighter than the Icon, comes with a fogfree shield, sick graphics and a pricetag thats too good to pass up. In my opinion they could easily be double the price and still be worth it. I'm waiting for some extra cash so I can get the new heavyweight EXO1000. Anyone try that one yet?
