So, I was thinking the other day, Is it possible to go HID's on our oilers? Also, been think the past year about halo's like the R1's. I think they look cool but don't offer much purpose other than that. What are your thoughts?

Oh crap, I thought I was in the oiler section dammit, Can a mod move this for me to the right section.....please.

Thanks

Ive thought about this too, they make HID kits to go in the H4 socket BUT ive never seen an HID setup used in a halogen housing. Not sure if they need to be put only in a clear or projector style housing. I bought an extra set of headlights thinking i could cut out the steel band surrounding the glass housing and put in a clear headlight like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Harl...QsspagenameZWD1VQQtrksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247

but theres no way you can do it. If i remeber right, as i fooled around with this a while ago, the actual tabs that mount the headlight are made onto the back of the headlight itself. Id be curious to hear if anyone has ever used a HID kit in a halogen housing

the video pretty much says, most HID "kits" that you buy on ebay are illegal when installed in improper housings (halgoen) The beam is scattered all over the place and there are "hot spots" which im guessing are where there is a big concentration of light in one small spot instead of an even beam. Glare in oncoming traffics eyes, etc. , etc.

I'm going to try and figure something out before spring. I think it would look cool.
I don't doubt that, just don't do it with the factory lenses. I think it would look very cool if you could work it in by filling the hole in the upper with fiberglass, and then cutting a couple of independent round hole - I think the RC30 had it like that. But yeah, if you can do it why not? And don't expect to be the only one if it comes out nice...

I didn't know the RC's had them. Maybe order an upper race skin and reinforce the area with glass and then cut to fit for new lens like you said. Hopeing to be able to free up some time and try this out. I'll keep notes so just incase it works.
