OK...a little technical help needed.

Since the 06 GSXR600 is my first Suzuki I have a question or two. I've had Honda's, Kwak's and Yamaha's and they all have their little secrets and tricks that take time to learn. So help a brother out with your infinite wisdom.

My bike will be my dedicated race bike:

Whats the process for disabling the butterfly valve in the exhaust? Can I remove the servo motors and cables as well? What do I need to do to the wiring harness to complete the deal?

#2
Does this bike have a PAIR type valve that I can block off to get accurate A/F ratio's on the dyno?

Thanks for helping out the new guy.

I'm not sure which wire it is but there is one wire you need to pull after you remove the butterfly (if you're not going to leave it functioning might as well remove it and save the extra.. half pound or whatever it is). Others are more knowledgeable in this than me but from what I hear it's fairly easy.
on many gsxr models if you pull those cables you'll get an fi light activated. You can pull a wire out of the harness that plugs into the ecu. Then you wrap it with electrical tape and just leave it out. It's the wire that runs the check to make sure that crap is still hooked up. Just call yoshimura-usa and they will know what wire it is...I know on the 07 GSXR 1000, but am not 100% sure if it's the same on your bike. Yosh will know though and be able to tell you or just ask them to send you instructions for their full exhaust for your bike
I will be in there and with pics normally.

Forgot about that mel...nice tip

Piece of cake. When I do it I'll take pics and post a how to or something so we can start building a good database on here.
Do everyone a favor if you would and when you find out what you need to do on that exact model post it up with pictures if you would. Would really help others out in the future. I know what it is on the 07 gsxr 1000, but not sure on your model.
Its the #30 brown wire to cut/remove. Did it to both my GSXRs with no issues.
Please forgive my N00b-ness but I have a question or 2 before I attempt this.

When the bike power is off is the valve open?

Is this mod actually disabling the valve not removing it? All I see are cables being removed and the servo, no valve/butterfly from the link supplied.

Or does SET stand for SERVO EXHAUST *****?

Thanks - Vic
Well after some research thats not for removing, just disabling.

May try it this weekend.
Pick up a full system from one of the site sponsors...voila...no more servo!
You can disable it by pulling it all out. That's what you do when you have a full exhaust. The problem is that you'll get an error code on your guage cluster when you do that. The purpose of this mod and getting rid of that wire is because that wire is what checks the set to make sure it's in place. When you take that wire out of commission you make it so the ecu can't and won't check to make sure the set is there. Therefore no error like on the guage cluster

Hope this helps.

Have the removal half way complete....pretty simple. I do have one question, I would rather pull the #30 wire instead of cut...I've tried and unable to do so...can I get any help on this or should I just say F it and cut it??

***UPDATE***
Was told just to grab the wire with needle nose pliers, all should come out including connector.....trying it tonight when I get home....
SET has been disabled: Pulled it all out

Going for a test ride when I can get out above 40 degrees...

Yes there is a PAIR valve that you can block off to give better reading for when you get it dyno tuned. I have not done mine yet so no pics from me but it seems easy you just have to decide how you want to block it off

Lol set stand for Suzuki Exhaust Tunning.
I know are several about the pari but here is a thread I started. Easy to do and makes a difference if you have a slip on and are getting any popping or backfires in addition to getting a better a/f ratio when you tune.

Ok so if you put the marble in or how ever you chose to block it or take out the unit does it give you any gain if you dont have a slip on and are not getting back fires? I would think if it gives you better air/fuel during the dyno you would think it would do the same all the time? Any one agree or disagree and why?

Thanks
