I bought about $1200 in carbon fiber fairings from them. To their credit the pieces fit very well although they did require some tweaking around the edges and the holes still needed to be drilled but that's pretty standard.

The quality in my opinion is exaggerated. The finish had deep pit marks in some areas and rough patches in others. The fairings are now fading/turning milky pretty badly from the elements in less than a year. I didn't know the finish would not protect against water/sun. Carbon fiber fades eventually anyways but it looks accelerated, as if they are several years old.

During the purchase, the backorder date was altered several times and "update" e-mails which were allegedly sent to customers never arrived, later I learned they'd had some problem with their e-mail, but there was no real effort to make amends.

Overall, if you're just looking to lighten/strengthen then they'll work fine, but if you also want a product that looks good I would either suggest you can get the fairings clear coated or look for a different product. Here is a link to OPP's blurb about how amazing their product is because of the epoxy resin which is "100% UV resistant" http://www.oppracing.com/opp_pages.php?page=carbon_fiber_101

I received the parts last April/May and they were put on in either May or June. So it's been about 8 months.

Here they are a few days after they were installed:

And here they are today:

As I said before, I understand that carbon fiber fades but this just seems a little extreme to me for less than a year old.

damn, I've never seen carbon fiber fade that bad, that is total bullshit

I'd see if sanding them then clearing them would bring them back with the right finish on them from the start there would be no reason for them to fade at all.

my Hindle carbon can still looks as good as the day I bought it

Wow!!!! That is ridiculous!!! Have you contacted them to tell them what happened with their product? I have never seen carbon go that bad before! The carbon I had on my bike lasted well in to 3 years without anything major like you have on your bike. But my carbon stuff was just basic, like the pipe. So there was no clear coat over yours? When you washed your bike, what did you use?

They should give you new parts. From their website they feel their carbon is the best. Sends them your pics and see if you can get them replaced. Might be worth a shot.

heres the downside to this is that OPP takes a little longer than a lifetime to get you the carbon stuff they sell. hell im giving up on them after 6 months of waiting for just a front fender and tire hugger.

I have only used magical racing and it hasn't faded yet and the quality is beyond top notch. I know cf does fade and has issues from the elements but that is the worst I have ever seen mel. Have you sent them pictures to see what they say?

my god...wtf, you have to get ahold of opp. that is the worst carbon decay ive seen...it looks like the carbon has been sitting out in the sun exposed to the elements for years...this is unacceptable:fact

Well it figures that Japanese make top quality stuff (as long as it doesn't say made in China or Taiwan) and you only have to wait a month for their stuff as opposed to OPP Racing. Too bad Magical Racing doesn't make any CF stuff for GSXR600 or 750.

Man... I hope those guys hook you up with some replacements. That there looks like poor craftsmanship. I'll be avoiding these guys.

And that is the truth!

I ordered my stuff in August, they told me some of it was on backorder. I'm cool with that, I understand they have to wait for the manufacturer and that it can take some time. My beef was that everytime they pushed the date back I was the one that had to call and see what was going on. I got my stuff over 6 months after ordering.

As for washing it. I used a clear coat/wax safe car wash, I never use dish detergents or anything like that. And I honestly don't wash the bike that much. The fairings don't really get dirty, I would attend to the wheels and things with honda polish or something similar but I never used that on the fairings. The bike is usually covered when I'm not riding it, so it's not just that it's been sitting.

I had talked to them before about the pitting in the finish and they told me that was normal with an epoxy resin but the benefits of the epoxy (UV protection, flexibility) are worth it. I sent them the pictures of the bike and I was actually polite :biggrin

We'll see if I get a reply.

Well Hell just froze over and I swear I just saw a pig fly past my window.......................................................

So are you going to put the OEM fairing back on? Seeing my bike like that would piss me off so much I probably could not ride it until I fixed it.:shakehead

Nah, the OEM fairings are... they have "character". :biggrin And by character I mean dragon bites.

It sucks, and it makes my bike look bad, but I can still enjoy the ride just for the sake of riding. If OPP wants to help me out that would be cool, but I won't keep my hopes up or anything. I guess I could always get them painted, I just don't have the money for it and I really wanted to be able to see the carbon.

with my magical racing stuff in all honesty i wash it with anything i have around. used dish soap and water forever on it. even left the r1 parked outside for 2 years and it looks like new. I would contact them mel as i've never seen cf look like that before...i'm sure it's possible if you completely neglect it, but i can't see you doing that w/ all you have invested into your bike.

Well they already e-mailed me back! I'm surprised. He said he would ask MacMoto (manufacturer) what was going on and get back to me as soon as he heard something from them.

That's good news. At least they replied quickly.
It's a start.

These might actually look pretty good on your bike!! Not a bad price considering they are the complete set, minus the tank. They aren't OEM, but they should at least hold you over for the year it will take for OPP to get back to you:hammerhead

BTW: I kind of like the second set, they paint scheme reminds me of MPDs bike
Yummy!!
I would take either of those sets.
