Crazy question. I just purchased a 2005 M50 with11kkm on it. 1 owner, bike is like new. Because it ahd been sitting, I think I was the first person to open th tool case cover. The clutch had to be ' unstuck ', and I also went thru the adj process. When I went to open the tool case again, the key did not work. My crazy question, which way does the key turn to open? I have tried both ways, just want to work on the correct way. Plus I might have to go to a locksmith to get this fixed. Drilling it out not really an option, dealer tells me this is not available for a 2005, altho I think any tumbler for this series might work.
Cheers and Tks, waiting for spring in th Great White North. Jackd

I can't answer your question, but graphite lubricant is alway best for locks. It won't gum it up. If you've sprayed anything wet in it I'd suggest flushing it with 99% Iso, which dries fast, before injecting graphite lube into the lock. That should loosen the pins.

Thanks all, tried several lubs, no luck. The bike as I said is like new, doesn't even look like it had been in the rain, and stored indoors. The key was a little stiff inserting, the lub certainly fixed this. Looking at drilling it out and replacing the tumbler, not to concerned even if I have to use a separate key. This being an 05, there seems to be some compatibility issues with older or newer MCs. Compatibility with the key tumbler I will probably have to replace. I'm thinking I might just go with a nice chrome bolt to replace the key. ;)
