So I was wondering about where you guys run at (RPM wise), mainly while commuting...

My 93 GSXR600 is a bit older but it just seems too lug a little bit the way I was riding it (staying around 6 and 7k), but when I ran it between 9 and 11k; it purred, the engine ran smoother, and the throttle response was awesome (by '93 standards
). I know the carb needs to be re-synced, but I'm just worried about how I push my bike; it's my first one, and I'd like to make it last while I can

I realize that the "optimum" range to be riding at will be alot different depending on the year and model... and riding style, but I'm still curious.

i keep mine as low as possible but to where i still have enough get up and go to get out of danger or move when i need to. on the k7 that's about 6-8k rpm. when in heavy traffic i keep it a bit higher if i can just in case. Already had to dart out of danger before. depends on your location and how twitchy you want it and how fast you might need to move out of someone's way.

That's in a low gear! Remember I live in town, its 45 everywhere! 2nd or 3rd gear is about all I get up to in town....well...except when I get that impulse to twist the throttle. :biggrin
i run right around 4 or 5 when im just cruising (and since the pipe makes alot of noise)

I usually am just riding by feel... I don't pay much attention to the speedo or tach... I'm in second or third for the most part around town... On the highway I just click up into 6th and cruise. Unless I feel like speeding around like a jackass, then I'm all over the gear range.
