Cause it isn't a Gym. I posted this up on my bodybuilding boards and got the reaction I thought I would from all those meat heads..LOL Just what do you think about this and Planet Fitness, as a non bodybuilder and just the occasional lifter would you rather go to a place like this or is this alittle overboard?

I wouldn't recommend Planet Fitness for anyone especially a weight lifter. Dumbbells only go up to 80lbs, no deadlifting, no noise making of any kind. And since it is only $10/month it is always packed. I speak from experience and there a lot more better options for just a little more a month.

best deal I've found was 24 hour fitness. You pay upfront for 3 years (around $600, you can talk them down) and every year after that is a preset amount. Mine was $650 for the intial 3 years and $50 per year afterwards. Nice since most locations actually are 24 hours, I can go anytime depending on my schedule.

Good, I get free memberships at all 3 of the gyms I belong too.
You suck

I dont mind it but I hate the people that do it excessively just for the attention...

If your lifting HEAVY, then your going to make some noise whether it be during exhaling or whatever. hey blake.. what body building forums are you a member of?

Okay even IIIIII grunt sometime or make noise. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

I don't really like muscle heads either, but more in a "they're just not for me" kind of way (except you Blake :biggrin) but the grunting doesn't bother me.

I've seen that stupid LUNK alarm set off when someone was reracking an ez curl bar. Metal bar + metal rack=noise. Plus, if you want to use the squat rack you have to fight off about a dozen 115lbs tank top clad teenagers doing bicep curls in it.

I go to anytime fitness and i do deadlifts and the works. So far nobody has yelled at me, but if they did i would go to a different gym in a heartbeat. I'm against most people grunting as most people do it for kicks and to look badass. If you're pushing some real weights then i understand. The average person there is no reason for it unless you're pushing 280+ on bench press, squating over 350, deadlifting over 300, etc...

No real need get grunt all loud and get stupid and shit. I just got home from the gym and I was squatting 6 wheels on each side and I actually noticed I kinda grunted alittle but that was about it. I have actually made fun of grunters and yellers. I just think that Planet Fitness is alittle overboard and stereotypes all bodybuilders as meatheads, which all aren't, I am far from that. If I was a meathead I surely wouldn't be on this sissy board..LOL

with just the 45lb olympic bar

Obnoxious grunting/groaning is just that...obnoxious. But the light grunt or what have you, that helps you get that weight up...hey great for you.
That really doesnt bother me as much as people talking or wasting time on equipment I want to use.

That is so lame!

I admit that it can get a little distracting when the body builders do it in excess, but I would just tune them out and continue my workout. Most of the time I would bring my headphones with me.

Anyone else notice Carol looked like a man?
